Promoting student exchange to build understanding and respect

Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal students often have no contact with each other.  This leads to stereotyping, fear, and misunderstanding.  In order to promote understanding Canadian Multicultural Education Foundation will offer grants to Alberta schools to cover 90% of the expenses for student exchanges. The exchanges will be designed to build understanding of each other’s values, challenges, family life and community life so that students learn to respect the others as individuals, not stereotypes.

All funds for 2011 applications have been committed.  Please check back in 2012 for more information about future grants.
